Connecticut requires every beekeeper to register their colonies each year. This is free and is a service to the beekeeper.
Registered beekeepers:
-
Can be notified of pest or disease outbreaks in their area
-
Have access to advice and free inspections with the State Apiary Inspector
-
Are able to be notified if a swarm is in their area – possible free bees!
-
Are compliant with the law
-
Add to the voice of beekeepers in the state. There’s power in numbers!
To register your colonies, create an account at elicense.ct.gov
Once your account is created, select Initial Application and then look under “N” for Nurseries and Honey Bees.
